CALL FOR ARTISTS
Reality & Perception: Photography at a Crossroad.”

In the early 50’s Berenice Abbott wrote an impassioned essay:  Photography at the Crossroads.  In it she argued strongly for the beauty of photography as a realistic medium, in contrast to the Pictorialism of the early part of the century, or the Surrealism of Man Ray. Today we are at another crossroad in photography, one complicated by manipulated imagery, imaginary pictures, the use and misuse of photographic propaganda and huge changes in image capture technology.  Photographers are invited to submit work from their own practice that speaks to these issues for the 10th annual juried exhibit of photographically based work to be held at Upstream Gallery, Hastings on Hudson, NY, Jan. 31st to Feb. 24th, 2019. Reception: Sunday, Feb. 3rd 2-5 pm.

Eligible Work: Artists from across the U.S. are invited to submit photographs in any technique. All work must be photographically based.

Specifications: All work must be suitably framed. Maximum framed size may not exceed 30 x 40 inches. Accepted pieces must be wired for hanging. The gallery reserves the right to reject poorly presented pieces.
